Hello Parents,
On behalf of myself and everyone on the Keiko TEAM we want to wish all our moms a very happy mother’s day. You do so much for your family and are the glue that holds it all together. You really are superheroes, and I want to recognize and thank you for everything you do.
Mom….. this Mokuso is dedicated to you!!!
Moms…Talk about the ultimate family superhero. From home school teacher, to provider, to keeper of the house, to loving wife and mother, to balancing the family cheque book, and evening event coordinator…..WOW!!!
Is there anything you can’t do??
Mom, you have one of the busiest schedules I have ever seen…and I know busy!! Trying to cope with the challenges associated with the times we are living in, plus your regular daily lives can seem like a little much.
Mom, it feels overwhelming because in many cases, it clearly is. Like I said in a previous Mokuso…..It’s not difficult because you are doing it wrong, it's difficult because it’s impossible to do all these jobs (tasks) at once.
I really want to help you out here so please allow me to share with you something I was taught that revolutionized how I managed my busy schedule, and when practiced properly can remove a ton of stress from your day. Think about this for a second. Managing a busy schedule comes down to one simple concept; “Task management” Most people are surprised to hear it put that way because we are so conditioned to the term “Time management”
You cannot manage time, you can only manage the tasks you assign and perform within a certain amount of time to being effective, and allow yourself a less stressful day. This powerful self management mindset is referred to as the Pareto Principle and teaches us to focus on the 20% of the tasks that yield 80% of the results.
Three very useful tools to apply this principal effectively and to manage those tasks are.....deferring, delegating, and downtime.
Don’t try to do everything. You have to intentionally choose what you “do not” do by prioritizing and de-cluttering your tasks. If you do this, you may find that some of the things you do, either do not really need to be done, or can be delegated to someone else (chores for the kids??)
Downtime!!! Every Superhero (MOM) needs time to work on their superpowers!!!
Moms, your mental, spiritual and physical health matter!! You need “downtime” or “me time”. Take at least 30 minutes every day for “me time” Even better ….1 hour! Your personal “Hour of Power”
This is the key..You cannot do it all, and you must have time for “You”. You will be a much better wife, employee, parent, and person. By the way moms, training with your kids online is a great way to build your superpowers, bond with your child and blow off some steam. We see you there having the time of your life…Good for you!! I feel all too often we get so busy with our lives we become “busy just being busy” We become so focused on doing every little thing we forget to slow down and enjoy the simple joyous moments ”It’s OK to defer tasks and responsibilities, especially during this difficult time. Focus on what matters…when it matters…with who it matters.
I certainly hope this helps…Enjoy your special day mom! On behalf of myself and everyone else on the Keiko TEAM....HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!
Have an amazing week!!!! Sensei
